When I saw this momma walk up to me I just knew it was going to be an amazing session…. From her hair and makeup to the phenomenal looks she picked from my client closet of things to wear! This momma and I had our first encounter over a year ago when she emailed and booked me for her newborn photo shoot. Tragedy struck and her first daughter was born sleeping. Momma asked me to keep the deposit and save it for a future shoot. Fast forward and momma became pregnant …. 40 weeks later, little E made his way safely earthside.
It was truly an honor to do this session for this beautiful family. We made sure to include his big sister in many of the photos to honor her memory. The friendships that I make in this business truly are the heart of it all. Connecting with moms that went through some of the same things we went through 10 years ago will forever pull at my heart.

I first met Krystal and Gannon when they hired me to take photos of their little Lorelei and since I have taken photos of their new bundle Amelia! Krystal and Gannon are the founders of Kinder Cloth Diapers. If you follow them on Tik Tok, you know how big they are becoming and they’re based right here in Pittsburgh! I’ve recently been added to their team to shoot the product photography of all their new designs. I saw Krystal struggling at doing the photos and offered my help to her and since then she decided to bring me on to shoot. It’s quite different from my usual crying clients but it’s so neat to see the products before they hit her site! The colors and the patterns would definitely have me being a cloth diapering momma if I would have found these 15 years ago. Spending money to literally throw them away killed me with disposables. The cutest set I have ever designed for a client. I only do cake smashes for newborn clients because honestly we have to know each other so we can sit and laugh at the ridiculousness going on. The newborns are the easiest. At the one year shoot you will be sweating I promise. They are walking and crawling and crying ! Tip for first birthday, feed them sugar prior!

I know how much you wanna go see that baby. They’re only that little once and you just want to squeeze and smooch them ! But RSV season mixed with Covid and flu and we’ve got a crazy situation on our hands. So here’s some tips on visiting them!
Don’t visit uninvited!
Don’t go unannounced. More than likely momma is already a mess. She’s probably been up all night.
Keep your visit short.
Tell momma to go nap! Don’t think she wants to hang out. I’m sure she loves you but she’s exhausted. So while you just wanna hold the baby if the baby is sleeping maybe do dishes or a load of laundry for her!
Keep your hands clean! Wash them before picking up baby and use hand sanitizer !
Don’t wear strong perfume or aftershave. Mommas hormones are probably driving her crazy and she can still smell things like an alien.
Don’t give unsolicited advice. Again momma is dealing with so much and the last thing she needs is to hear how you got your baby to sleep through the night at two days old.
Know when to leave. You know you’ll be asking to come back next week !
While visiting babies is so wonderful and you just want to help, mommas are so tired and everyone grabbing for the newborn they carried for 10 months is straining So help her out!
I exclusively use Kyte Baby Sleepers in my photographs because of how beautiful they are. They are soft and wash well! I would suggest this to any photographer looking for the simple look of posed newborn without the baby being naked. With the age of social media, most parents don’t choose naked baby images anymore and that’s where these gorgeous little sleepers come in!
You can easily find a matching color to many of your drops for photo sessions. White though is my personal favorite. A simple photo of just a little baby in a little sleeper. I do shove my newborns into the premie size though since we want it a little snug!
